Idols Prom Limo Memories

When you’re a big star it seems everybody wants to know you and be your friend. ‘American Idol’ finalist David Cook has a lot of fans cheering him on, including his 2001 prom date, Molly Hastings. Hastings, who is now a sixth-grade English teacher at a middle school in their hometown, said she is constantly answering questions about her former prom date, Cook, who has shot to stardom nearly overnight since appearing on the show.

Prom is one of the most special days of a student’s high school career; it is an event many high school students look forward to. Hastings said that at the time she was excited just to have been asked. She was a sophomore, while Cook her friend, was senior. Obviously she accepted the invitation and went to the Prom with him and now she said it was definitely exciting too.

Although Hastings admitted she hadn’t been in touch with him for about five years all that changed last week when Cook visited his hometown and was treated to an American Idol limousine parade, in which Hastings was asked to be a driver.  Hastings said she got to talk to him really briefly when he was driving by in his limousine. Cook apparently asked 'What's up, Molly?' To which Hastings just yelled, 'You're a big star.'
